Photographs from IRIIM, BVP mobile van project were shown besides the earlier ones of the Orissa cyclone projects. Besides these, there was a video presentation of VIDE. Many volunteers were there to provide information about all the Gujarat related projects underway.

VIDE distributes Indian candy to Cisco Employees to mark the celebration of Diwali: As a company with a stated mission to change lives for the better, Cisco has often shown its compassionate self to society at large. Its grace has extended from grassroots issues like food for the hungry and community education to assistance for disaster victims around the world. Cisco employees have internalized the concept of giving back to the community and have proven that their excellence extends beyond technology. When a devastating cyclone hit India last year, some Cisco employees responded spontaneously to organize a fund collection drive to help the disaster victims. With generous donations from fellow Cisco employees and matching contributions from Cisco, they were able to raise more than $100,000 within two months. This money was used to build schools, homes and hospitals, which were damaged by the cyclone. In fact, the rehabilitation efforts are an on-going process and continue to be supported by a group of dedicated Cisco volunteers. To foster greater participation, Cisco volunteers reached out to employees in other corporations. The Cisco volunteers have now successfully built a network of volunteers called VIDE to implement and monitor community development and empowerment projects in India. VIDE presented ethnic candy at Cisco cafeterias on 10/26/00 on the occasion of an Indian festival called Diwali. VIDE volunteers showcased the various projects implemented with the money collected from Cisco employees in 1999.
