Brief Profile of Mr. Anshu Sharma

Mr. Anshu Sharma is a programme director at SEEDS, an outstanding and well-recognized NGO based in Delhi.SEEDS is one of the few NGOs in India that has pioneered disaster mitigation, management and even alertness. They have done critical studies on vulnerability of major Indian cities to natural disasters, primarily earthquakes
( as India is an active seismic zone ) and other disasters. They have worked with civic agencies, Government and public bodies to create awareness on disaster mitigation and management. Importantly, SEEDS had just begun a study of Port Blair a little while ago. It was part of a larger national initiative on urban earthquake safety, but
is currently on hold due to some clearance issues. Port Blair was selected for this study because based on secondary  information SEEDS strongly believed it is prone to earthquakes and tsunamis. VIDE has worked with SEEDS after the 2001 Gujarat Earthquake and we quickly developed a synergy in our approach - our goal is to have
strategic solutions to the numerous natural disasters that pose a threat to India.
